Rarely do we come across a talent as delightfully diverse as Swiss-born actress Naomi Rose Pfyl. In an exclusive interview, Film News sat down with Hollywood’s latest leading lady to talk about her highly anticipated psychological thriller film, ‘The Decision’.
Welcome to Film News Naomi. Can you tell us about the new movie, ‘The Decision?’ The Decision is about a girl coming home from a regular day and just wants to have a comfy night at home and falls asleep quite quickly. Next day she founds herself trapped in her own room, but is it really her room? Who is behind all of it..
It looks incredible. Did you find the role challenging? How did you prepare? It was extremely challenging. I was still in acting school when we shot this movie, so I was a complete newbie. I just poured myself into this project. I listened to my gut instinct how to portray this character and just went for it. The great thing was since I was the only cast playing on set, we were able to rehearse everything in detail.
I think this is one of the projects I have grown the most. One scene was so intense where I had to fell on the floor with so much pain, crying, surrounded by candles. The cameraman and I were soaked wet from sweat after each take. But it was an experience and achievement that I am proud of.
What was it like to film with the director Marin Jozak? He trusted me fully, so that was amazing. For one scene which was the most intense, he gave me an earpiece where he could give me the instructions because he wanted a slow build up of the character from being desperate to almost an animal beast.The whole crew was absolutely amazing.
Where did you film and what was the set like? We filmed in a big empty warehouse and the set designer build the set like in sitcom’s. That was amazing to see and so it was shoot all from one angle side. I was able to bring some personal details with picture of me and my family to make me feel more like it was my actual home.
What do you hope people will take from the film? I hope they will be on pinch till the very last second of this movie.
Is there a timeline for its release? The release is planned of the end of 2022 - beginning of 2023. We are in post production but I can't wait to share finally the end result.
What’s up next for you? I have several projects and commercials in the loops and shooting soon. Some I can tell and some not yet. But you know Los Angeles is unpredictable but that's what we love about this city.
