OMELETTEMACHINE is a highly physical show that will transport you to the bloody, nightmarish world of Mike, your favourite butcher! Mike will guide you on a journey through his personal 'Teatro della Carne' to unpack his role in the family business: ‘Hamlet & Sons Butchers - meating your expectations since 1601’.

OMELETTEMACHINE is a Bouffon style theatre piece, loosely inspired by Hamlet and Hamletmachine. Using a grotesque and clowning performance style, this show explores the perpetuation of violence in family-related trauma. A parody of Hamlet himself, our protagonist Mike is stuck in a never-ending cycle of torture and butchery as he addresses his customers (the audience) who have come to their family butcher to purchase pieces of meat. At the same time, his father's ghost, Mike’s torturer, is a persistent presence in the air that keeps watch over his naughty and disappointing son. Through gory and comedic egg-splattering, Mike reveals layers of himself to the audience until the boundaries between the performer, the bouffon and the character become so blurred that the only thing left to do is to uncover them all. OMELETTEMACHINE uses different dramaturgical layers to explore a semi-autobiographical narrative that aims to deconstruct family trauma, by butchering one of the most famous plays of all time: Hamlet.
OMELETTEMACHINE is not suitable for vegans.
