Untamed Productions and Theatre503 present blackout - an original play exploring binge drinking and the trials and tribulations of being a 30 year old single woman.

Untamed Productions, a Birmingham based theatre company, are headed to Theatre503 with their premiere of BLACKOUT: a short two-hander play that deals with contemporary women’s issues.

Hanxiety, The Fear, Sunday Scaries - all the while handling the patriarchal pressures of being 30 and single. A story of friendship, fuck ups and female power: join Tilly and JJ as they simultaneously screw the system and their livers.
Tilly and JJ have different approaches to dealing with turning 30 and finding themselves single. Tilly feels left behind from the rest of her peers, whilst JJ enjoys the freedom of being alone. However, they have one thing in common - they both love to drink.

The play explores how the girls cope with dating as Millenials, pressures of fertility, societal expectations of femininity - and their exquisite ability to both get completely blackout drunk. Everyone does it right? So what’s the problem?
But, what happens when something terrible happens during a blackout night that neither of them can remember?
Untamed is a community devoted to empowering Birmingham creatives. From producing female centred theatre to connecting local artists through workshops and scratch nights: they champion the voices of undertold stories and creatives.

Previous productions range from an online adaptation of April de Angelis’ Mrs Noah Fights Back to new writing by Karen Lockyer, The Visitor (The Hen and Chickens Theatre, Canal Cafe Theatre).

The producer for Blackout is Gabriella Sills who has recently been awarded the Stage One bursary. Sound design is by Joseph Harper and artwork and photography by Michael Delaney. The cast consists of Poppy Abbott who recently toured David Walliams’ Awful Auntie with Heartbreak Productions and Emma Hodgkinson who is a writer, director and actor having recently toured Blithe Spirit with Tethered Wits.
