Back live in Mumbai for the first time since performances in 2019 from Shaparak Khorsandi, which followed successful runs from Ahir Shah, Lauren Pattison and hit play Half Breed, Soho Theatre are presenting Nina Conti. Alongside her show In Your Face being available to stream, Nina Conti will perform two shows at live performance venue G5A in Mumbai’s Girangaon district. Known for her quick improvisation and audience involvement, no two performances are ever the same. Now, for the first time ever she will bring her live work to India. IN THE UK

In recent years Soho Theatre has worked with some of the biggest and best Indian talent, producing shows in London, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and on tour with the likes of Aditi Mittal, Vir Das, Anuvab Pal, Kanan Gill, Zakir Khan and more. Mentalist Suhani Shah has just finished a successful run at Soho Theatre’s Dean Street base and Daniel Fernandes will perform in August, with more exciting names to be announced very soon. Soho Theatre are looking to expand and build on their relationship with Indian artists and audiences through these upcoming shows.

IN THE FUTURE

Soho Theatre are creating a partnership with G5A to employ a Mumbai-based Comedy Producer. Working out of G5A for most of the year, this exciting role will be based at G5A in Mumbai and travel to the UK as part of the Soho Theatre team working on live comedy shows in London and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A key part of Soho Theatre’s commitment to championing new Indian live comedy, the Comedy Producer will help Soho Theatre take more live shows to India and bring the best Indian comedians to audiences in Soho and, from 2023, in the 1,000-seater Soho Theatre Walthamstow in East London.

Winner of a British Comedy Award, BAFTA nominee, and star of British comedy institutions including Live at the Apollo and Sunday Night at the Palladium, Nina Conti has done it all… without even moving her lips. Known for her modern, improvisation-based style of ventriloquism, Nina has built a huge fanbase around the world. After starting her career as an actor at the Royal Shakespeare Company, Nina moved to live comedy and ventriloquism and has since performed sold out shows in Edinburgh, London, New York and at the Sydney Opera House. These two very special performances will see her perform at G5A for the first time.
