Cassidy Janson wins her first Olivier Award for "Best Actress In A Supporting Role” for her role in “& Juliet”.

Cassidy Janson said: "I haven’t won anything since I was nine years old and won best Christmas tree drawing in the primary school competition. This is so much better!
Thank you to the Olivier Panel. I love this industry and this award means so much.
Thank you to everyone at & Juliet. You are the most delightful group of human beings. You’re all so skilled, so viable and so valuable. Don’t any of you ever retrain.
Thank you to my family. Maureen, Clive and Anthony. You’ve always supported me even though you didn’t understand this profession at all!
Thank you to my agent Bex Elliff. You’re amazing.
And thank you to Oliver Tompsett, my comedy partner in crime in the show. We created these roles together and I would’t be holding this award without you. This award is as much yours as it is mine."

Cassidy’s had an incredible journey in the West End, most notably playing Carole King in the critically-lauded “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” West End production from 2015 to 2017. King was so impressed with Cassidy that she invited her to duet on stage at British Summer Time Hyde Park in 2016, in front of 65,000 people.

Cassidy has since starred in “Chess" The Musical with Michael Ball and Alexandra Burke (2018), and "Man of La Mancha" alongside Danielle de Niese (2019) before taking on the role of “Anne Hathaway” in “& Juliet” last year.

She will be embarking on a solo tour, rescheduled for 2021 with her band, titled “Ladies of Laurel Canyon” - performing the songs and telling the story of the music scene that flowered in LA in the late 60s and early 70s which saw artists like Carole King, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell and Linda Rondstadt come up.

Outside of the theatre, Cassidy is a Classic BRIT Award nominated recording artist. Together with Beverley Knight and Amber Riley, she formed the trio Leading Ladies in 2017, releasing an album of beloved musical theatre songs, “Songs From The Stage”. The album earned them an Album Of The Year nomination at the 2018 Classic BRIT Awards.

Off the back of that, Cassidy scored her own recording contract with BMG and released her debut solo album “Cassidy” in 2019, featuring 12 songs co-written by her. Plus one song especially written for her by Carole King.
