The Bush Theatre has announced its first podcast produced alongside playwright Temi Wilkey, London Playwrights’ Workshop and One Fine Play.

Making It with Temi Wilkey is a podcast about making theatre and making it as an artist in the dynamic landscape of UK theatre. The weekly podcast plans to inspire those who have a latent desire to write but have never felt brave enough to start. Each week Temi will be chatting to an emerging playwright, theatre maker or theatre company about how they make theatre, why they make theatre and what they do to survive. Making it with Temi Wilkey will provide a practical insight into how people write and make plays. Temi will pose pragmatic questions on their process including how they structure their day, how they support themselves and how they manage their mental health. Where relevant, she will also explore what the process of getting work put on looks like.
The first editions, available online from today, include interviews with Jasmine Lee-Jones (Seven Methods of Killing Kylie Jenner at the Royal Court Theatre) and Richard Gadd (whose play Baby Reindeer opens at the Bush Theatre on 9 October). Forthcoming guests include Abbi Greenland, Helen Goalen and Becky Wilkie of RashDash; Yasmin Joseph; Ben Weatherill, Ella Road; Breach; Zoe Cooper and Margaret Perry.

Season one of the podcast will run until 2 December, with a new episode released every Monday.

Temi Wilkey said:

‘I started this podcast because I feel there is so much amazing up and coming talent in the UK today and I personally want to hear from these artists. So often we hear from writers and artists who have made it, and I want to hear from artists that are a bit more like me: who are on their journey to making it.’
