The magical world of Nanny McPhee is heading to London’s West End as a major new stage musical adaptation. Tickets for the world premiere production go on general sale at 12:00pm on Wednesday, 14th October 2026 via NannyMcPheeTheMusical.com. The show will officially open at the Aldwych Theatre, with performances beginning on Saturday, 6th November 2027 and booking through 9th September 2028.

Based on the hit Universal Pictures films and Christianna Brand’s classic Nurse Matilda books, the new musical brings the mysterious, stick-wielding nanny to the stage for the first time. The story follows Nanny McPhee as she arrives at the chaotic Brown household to bring order to a family overwhelmed by unruly children, a desperate father, and unruly domestic mayhem. Armed with her unorthodox methods and a touch of magic, she restores harmony while teaching the family valuable life lessons.

The stage adaptation features a book by Academy Award-winning actor and screenwriter Emma Thompson, who originally wrote and starred in the 2005 film and its 2010 sequel. Music is composed by singer-songwriter Gary Clark, frontman of Danny Wilson and composer for Sing Street, with original lyrics co-written by Thompson and Clark.

While casting remains to be announced, an acclaimed creative team has been assembled to bring the story to life. Katy Rudd (The Ocean at the End of the Lane) directs, featuring set and costume designs by Rob Howell (Matilda the Musical), musical staging and choreography by Ellen Kane (Paddington: The Musical), and illusions by Chris Fisher (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). The production also includes orchestrations by Simon Hale, music supervision by Nigel Lilley, lighting by Howard Hudson, sound design by Ian Dickinson, puppetry by Samuel Wyer, and projections by Andrzej Goulding.

Presented by Universal Theatrical Group and Working Title Films in association with Studiocanal on Stage and MGM on Stage, the musical is produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Lindsay Doran, Emma Thompson, Paul Warwick Griffin, Gareth Hewitt Williams, and Rebecca Quigley.
