English National Opera (ENO) has announced the return of AbracadOpera!, expanding its learning and participation initiatives to introduce young audiences to classical music. The live interactive performance will take place at the London Coliseum on February 12, 2027, featuring mind-blowing music, magical adventures, and dynamic stage characters.
Designed specifically for primary schools, home learning students, and carers, the 45-minute production reflects ENO’s commitment to making opera accessible to future generations. Under ENO’s Under 21s ticket scheme, all children attend for free, while teacher and accompanying adult tickets are priced at £29. Travel bursaries are also available for schools.
Hosted by educational entertainer MC Grammar, the show blends elements of the original comedy-musical-drama aired on Sky Kids with live orchestral performances and interactive moments. Conceived and written by BAFTA-winner Andrew McCaldon, the story follows two students and their teacher on a race against time after a cancelled school trip. Together with Wagner’s flying warrior Brünnhilde, Rossini’s trickster Figaro, Puccini’s poet Rodolfo, and Mozart’s villainous Queen of the Night, the group sets out to stage an opera at their school.
The production features soprano Nazan Fikret and baritone Alex Otterburn alongside the award-winning Chorus and Orchestra of ENO. Beth Warnock, Director of ENO Engage, highlighted the production's unique approach, describing it as a thrilling first adventure where iconic characters unite to show young audiences how exciting, funny, and full of possibility opera can be.
Public booking opens today, September 29, 2026, alongside school reservations. Following its performance at the London Coliseum, the AbracadOpera! live event will travel to Greater Manchester as part of ENO’s 2027/28 Season, with further venue and date announcements to follow.
