The Barbican has unveiled its highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2027 Theatre and Dance programme, bringing together a bold mix of international masterworks, groundbreaking world premieres, and the welcome return of audience favorites. Championing theatrical excellence and innovation for nearly three decades, the upcoming season will host diverse productions across both the main Theatre stage and The Pit.
Headline highlights include the UK premiere of Saigon (March 11–13) by internationally acclaimed French-Vietnamese director Caroline Guiela Nguyen, alongside Plexus Polaire’s visually striking puppet adaptation of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (February 3–6) presented in partnership with MimeLondon. Celebrating 25 years of pioneering hip-hop dance theatre, Barbican Associate Artists Boy Blue will ignite the main stage with A Night with Boy Blue (February 19–21), featuring nearly 200 dancers alongside a high-energy Frontline Battle event.
The Pit will host an array of daring new work, including the world premiere of ZooCo’s live-directed comedy Three Men on a Billboard (February 8–13), based on the surreal true story of a 1982 endurance contest. A new disability-led production of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet (May 13–15), directed by Jamie Hale for CRIPtic Arts, will reimagine the classic romance through the lens of autonomy and joy. Meanwhile, Theatre Peckham and Words of Colour present Witness (March 4–6), adapting Alex Wheatle MBE's powerful novella on youth, mental health, and decision-making.
Adding to the blockbuster lineup, the smash-hit manga adaptation Death Note: The Musical returns by popular demand from March 23 through May 15. The season also marks the launch of applications for the 2027/28 Open Lab programme, reaffirming the venue's dedication to nurturing emerging artistic talent.
