Trafalgar Theatre Productions, Grove Entertainment, Barbara Whitman, Eilene Davidson Productions, and Alan Cumming for Pitlochry Festival Theatre have announced the UK premiere and national tour of the new musical Ceilidh.
Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton (Oh! Mary.), the production arrives in the UK following a North American season in Baltimore. Written by Scottish writing duo Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie (Noisemaker), the musical debuts as part of Alan Cumming’s inaugural season as Artistic Director at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, running from 7 to 17 October 2026.
Following its Pitlochry run, Ceilidh transfers to London for a four-week residency at Shoreditch Town Hall from 23 October to 13 November 2026, before embarking on a nationwide UK tour. The touring itinerary includes dates in High Wycombe, Eastbourne, Fareham, Brighton, Guildford, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Bradford, Glasgow, and Liverpool through spring 2027.
Set within traditional Scottish social gatherings, Ceilidh combines original songs, traditional music, and choreography to tell a multi-generational family story focused on love, legacy, and community. The staging allows audiences to participate on the dance floor alongside a live caller or view the performance from balcony seating.
The cast is led by Scott Gilmour as Ramsay, with Kyle Gardiner as Alternate Ramsay, David Rankine as Leo, Kirsty Findlay as Euna, George Drennan as Older Leo, Annie Grace as Older Euna, Star Penders as Granny Maclavaney, Rori Hawthorn as Rowan, Jerome Lincoln as Lucas, Laura Lovemore as Yvonne, Charlie West as Fiddles, Harry Ward as Dave, and Robin MacKenzie as Piper.
Commenting on the production, Alan Cumming said: "It’s only fitting that a show so beautifully entertaining and Scottish to its very core should start its journey here in Pitlochry, before it reels its way down to Shoreditch Town Hall and across the rest of the UK."
The creative team features set design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, sound design by Danny Erdberg and Ursula Kwong-Brown, and musical supervision by Kris Kukul.
