The National Theatre has released production images for the UK premiere of Tracey Scott Wilson’s newsroom thriller The Story. Directed by NT Associate Artist Clint Dyer (Death of England trilogy), the production is currently playing at the Olivier theatre through to 24 October 2026.
BAFTA Award-winner Letitia Wright (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) makes her National Theatre debut as Yvonne, an ambitious Black reporter who defies her editor to pursue an incendiary lead in a high-stakes investigation. The cast stars Aliyah Odoffin as Latisha, Ashley Thomas as Neil, Lorraine Toussaint as Pat, and Wilf Scolding as Jeff.
The play follows four journalists racing to cover a headline after a white teacher is killed in a Black neighbourhood. As new evidence emerges, the case pulls the reporters into a high-tension dynamic that forces each of them to confront what they are prepared to risk to tell their version of the truth.
The company also features Antonia Bernath as Jessica Dunn, Josh Goulding as Tim Dunn, Jay Simpson as Detective, and Unique Spencer as Adrienne. The ensemble includes Tee Arnold, Donna Augustin, Reanna Bleu, Katie Buchholz, Arianne Carless, Angelina Chudi, Linseigh Green, Roland Royal III, and Matt Whitchurch.
Joining Dyer on the creative team are set designer Anna Fleischle, costume designer Natalie Pryce, lighting designer Paul Anderson, movement director Lucie Pankhurst, sound designer and composer Benjamin Grant, and co-video designers Gino Ricardo Green and Tal Yarden. The production team also features wigs, hair, and make-up designer Cynthia De La Rosa, intimacy director Ingrid Mackinnon, fight director Kev McCurdy, dialect coach Hazel Holder, and voice coach Cathleen McCarron.
The Story plays at the National Theatre’s Olivier theatre until 24 October 2026, with performances running Monday to Saturday at 7:30pm, alongside Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2:30pm. Tickets and access performance details are available via the National Theatre box office and website.
