Disney Theatrical Group has announced that its brand-new stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman will premiere in London’s West End at the historic Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Spring 2027. The news follows a successful, sell-out run at The Bristol Hippodrome earlier this year.
West End stars Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks will lead the cast as P.T. Barnum and Charity Barnum. They are joined by Ben Joyce as Phillip Carlyle, Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind, and Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz, with further casting to be announced.
The stage production is the first 20th Century Studios title to be adapted for the stage by Disney Theatrical Group. The musical features the Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated score by EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen), alongside brand-new songs written specifically for the stage. Audiences can expect live renditions of hit tracks including "This Is Me," "A Million Dreams," "Come Alive," "Never Enough," and "Rewrite the Stars."
Two-time Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Mean Girls, Hercules) directs and choreographs the production, working from a book written by Tim Federle (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series).
The creative team includes Alex Lacamoire handling music supervision, dance arrangements, and orchestrations, David Korins on scenic design, Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser designing costumes, Natasha Katz on lighting, Peter Hylenski managing sound design, and Lorenzo Pisoni leading circus creation and design.
Anne Quart and Andrew Flatt of Disney Theatrical Group expressed their excitement about bringing the show to London, praising the open-hearted and joyous nature of the story, as well as its celebration of dreamers and outsiders. They highlighted the unique collaboration between Pasek, Paul, Federle, and Nicholaw in bringing the film’s iconic world to life on stage.
