Hadestown is celebrating its momentous 1,000th performance at the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End this week, and the occasion marks a thrilling new chapter for the production. A brand-new line-up of principal cast members will officially join the London company starting on 15 September 2026. This incoming group features acclaimed performers spanning the worlds of chart-topping pop music, classical opera, film, television, and major musical theatre.
Internationally renowned soprano and broadcaster Danielle de Niese is set to step into the role of Persephone. Earlier this year, de Niese won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera, having previously performed with the world's leading opera companies and orchestras. Accclaimed screen and stage actor Shaun Dooley will take on the role of Hades. Dooley's extensive screen credits include Mr Bates Vs The Post Office, Saltburn, and It's a Sin, alongside a celebrated theatrical background that includes Jez Butterworth’s Hills of California.
West End rising star Fayth Ifil will portray Eurydice. Ifil made her West End debut at just ten years old and has since held leading roles in Tina – The Tina Turner Musical and Just For One Day. Leading-lady Malinda Parris joins the cast as Hermes, adding to an impressive theatre résumé that includes & Juliet, Mary Poppins, and Matilda. Completing the principal lineup is singer-songwriter Nathan Sykes, who will play Orpheus. Sykes found international fame as a member of the chart-topping pop band The Wanted before successfully launching a solo career.
The incoming stars will perform alongside Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell, and Lauran Rae as the Fates. The show also features Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Gabriela Benedetti, Ollie Bingham, and Sebastian Lim-Seet as the Workers, while Juan Jackson, Oisín Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triadi, and Milly Willows serve as Swings.
