Matilda The Musical has officially announced a brand-new lineup of talented young performers joining its massively successful UK and Ireland tour. The Royal Shakespeare Company’s multi-award-winning production recently opened a highly anticipated summer residency at the Birmingham Hippodrome, where the fresh young cast members have just stepped into their roles. To mark the exciting transition, the incoming stars, many of whom local to the West Midlands region, recently made a special appearance at Touchwood Mall in Solihull to celebrate.
Felicity Brown, Petra Hutchings, and Caroline Ravansari are the latest stars to join the production. They will share the iconic title role of Matilda alongside current company members Mollie Hutton and Sanna Kurihara. An additional 18 young actors have also joined the touring ensemble to play Matilda's classmates, alongside returning cast member John Johnson.
The adult cast remains led by Richard Hurst as the formidable Miss Trunchbull, Tessa Kadler as Miss Honey, Adam Stafford as Mr Wormwood, and Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs Wormwood. Now celebrating its 15th anniversary, the stage phenomenon has been seen by over 13 million people across 100 global cities, while the original West End production continues to play to packed houses at London's Cambridge Theatre.
Written by Dennis Kelly with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, this anarchic adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic tale is directed by Matthew Warchus and features choreography by Peter Darling. The production has secured more than 100 global accolades, including 25 standard Best Musical awards.
The musical will continue to entertain audiences at the Birmingham Hippodrome until 2nd August 2026. From there, the tour moves on to the Norwich Theatre Royal from 6th August to 6th September, followed by autumn stops at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin and the Milton Keynes Theatre. The tour will then head to the Glasgow Theatre Royal before wrapping up with a festive winter run at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff through 17th January 2027.
