Space Hamlet is set to make its highly anticipated London debut this autumn, bringing a high-octane cosmic twist to Shakespeare’s most iconic tragedy. Blasting into The Cockpit from Thursday 22nd October to Saturday 31st October 2026, this madcap musical comedy perfectly balances epic space battles with off-beat humor. Designed for lovers of Star Wars, The Muppets, and Avenue Q, the show promises a wildly inventive evening packed with adult language, a chorus of violent puppets, and Norse Gods.
The production catapults the timeless tale of Prince Hamlet into a dazzling distant future where the Denmark System is ruled by space Vikings. Following the brutal murder of his father, King Ham, Prince Hamlet embarks on a frantic cosmic quest for vengeance. As he confronts the treacherous Claudius, the prince must navigate a chaotic universe packed with intrigue, betrayal, and larger-than-life characters. Brought vividly to life by an eclectic menagerie of puppets and a cast of eight talented actor-musicians, this unique staging follows a critically acclaimed, sold-out run produced by Open Door Theatre in Norwich last year.
The show features an original, David Bowie-inspired glam rock score crafted by England-based Dan Sturman and New York-based R.C. Staab, who have been collaborating for over a dozen years. The cast stars Nic Gordon as Hamlet, alongside Lucas Fox as Claudius, Ruby Bardwell-Dix as Ophelia, Amy Beven as Horatio and Polonius, Shem Jacobs as King Ham, Lauren Bryant as Gertrude, Elle Overvoorde as Laertes, and Lewis Aves as Fortinbras.
