Theatre Royal Windsor has officially released the first selection of production images for Clive Francis’ stage adaptation of Graham Greene’s satirical novel Our Man in Havana. Captured by photographer Jack Merriman, the images offer a sneak peek into the visually vibrant staging ahead of its national press performance on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. The production is currently running its opening leg at the historic Windsor venue until Saturday, 11 July, before embarking on a comprehensive nationwide tour.

The fast-moving, comedic romp features a star-studded cast of familiar British television and stage actors. Jack Ashton, widely known for his roles in the BBC's Call The Midwife and Sky's Lockerbie, stars as the central protagonist, James Wormold. He is joined by Bob Barrett (Holby City), Leon Ockenden (Waterloo Road), and West End musical star Jodie Steele (Heathers The Musical). Together, the versatile four-piece ensemble seamlessly transitions between more than 30 distinct characters to bring the chaotic atmosphere of pre-revolutionary, 1950s Havana vividly to life on stage.

Directed by Philip Wilson, the story follows Wormold, a cash-strapped British vacuum cleaner salesman operating in Cuba. In a desperate bid to financially support his spoiled daughter, he is unexpectedly recruited by MI6 agent Hawthorne to act as a secret operative. Lacking any legitimate intelligence skills, Wormold begins fabricating an entirely fictional network of undercover agents and reports derived from his imagination and local bar conversations. The narrative spirals out of control when MI6 takes his absurd blueprints for secret weapons seriously, triggering real-world geopolitical consequences.

The show features set and costume design by Julie Godfrey, lighting by Nick Richings, and sound by Andy Graham. It forms the centerpiece of the Theatre Royal Windsor Season on Tour, a trio of in-house productions originating at the year-round, unsubsidised venue under the Bill Kenwright Ltd umbrella. Following its introductory Windsor run, the tour will officially travel to the Salisbury Playhouse, Oxford Playhouse, Theatre Royal Bath, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford, Cheltenham Everyman Theatre, Malvern Theatres, and the Cambridge Arts Theatre.
