Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic masterpiece The Phantom of the Opera is set to celebrate a monumental 40th anniversary at its original London home, His Majesty’s Theatre. To mark four decades of unmatched West End success, a sensational international cast has been assembled for a special, limited birthday season.

Leading the historic milestone production is Broadway star Jordan Donica in the title role, starring alongside Beatrice Penny-Touré as the acclaimed Christine Daaé. Rhys Whitfield makes a highly anticipated return to the production as Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny.

Adding to the anniversary excitement, Broadway legend Sierra Boggess—celebrated globally for playing Christine in the 25th anniversary Royal Albert Hall concert and Love Never Dies—returns to the musical in a brilliant twist as the operatic prima donna Carlotta Giudicelli. She stars opposite Matt Bateman as Piangi, while fellow Love Never Dies alumnus Joseph Millson makes his show debut as Monsieur André. The principal lineup is completed by Ian Pirie as Monsieur Firmin, double Olivier Award-winner Joanna Riding as Madame Giry, and Millie Lyon as Meg Giry. Colleen Rose Curran will perform the role of Christine at certain performances.

The production features the legendary original stage and costume designs of Maria Björnson, which were thrillingly updated with spectacular special effects by Matt Kinley and Jill Parker for the show's grand 2021 reopening. This staging beautifully honors the original direction of Hal Prince and the iconic choreography of Dame Gillian Lynne, under the modern direction of Seth Sklar-Heyn and Chrissie Cartwright.

Since its world premiere in 1986, the haunting gothic romance has transformed into an unparalleled global phenomenon, playing to over 160 million people across 46 territories. As one of only two West End musicals to surpass 40 continuous years on stage, this strictly limited birthday season offers a rare opportunity to experience Lloyd Webber’s timeless, record-breaking score performed by a truly elite international ensemble.
