Scheduled for 12 June at Edgbaston, the spectacle will take place just before England faces Sri Lanka in the tournament opener.
Marking the first-ever official collaboration between a major West End production and an international cricket tournament, the performance will be broadcast to a massive global audience. West End stars Emma Kingston and Zizi Strallen will take center stage as Elphaba and Glinda to perform iconic musical numbers from the show. The event aligns with the 20th anniversary of Wicked’s historic London run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where it stands as the ninth longest-running West End show in British history.
The partnership reflects the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) broader ambition to elevate its marquee global events into expansive cultural experiences. ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta emphasized that incorporating world-class entertainment helps transcend traditional sporting boundaries, attracting wider fan cohorts who seek novel, big-event entertainment. Tournament Director Beth Barrett-Wild added that bringing the magic of the hit musical to Edgbaston will create an unforgettable atmosphere, setting a high-stakes tone for the subsequent 24 days of elite cricket competition.
The 2026 tournament has already established a historic benchmark as the highest-selling edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup, with over 150,000 tickets sold three weeks ahead of the first match. The expanded competition will feature 12 international teams competing across 33 matches at seven premier venues throughout England and Wales, concluding on 5 July.
