Wimbledon's renowned Polka Theatre has officially unveiled its complete Autumn and Winter programming block, stretching into early 2027. Curated by Artistic Director Helen Matravers and Executive Director Lynette Shanbury, the newly announced lineup balances magical, adventurous escapism with thought-provoking stories that directly address the real-world issues facing young people today. The upcoming season is packed with world premieres, sensory-led performances, and high-profile adaptations designed for children spanning from infancy to early teenage years.

Headlining the main Y C Chan Theatre this autumn is Toto, a brand-new musical co-production running from 10 October to 1 November 2026. Based on the popular book by Ximo Abadia, this inspiring production follows a strong-willed young donkey determined to achieve their dream of becoming an astronaut. Following this, the Adventure Theatre will host the world premiere of Rebel, Rebel from 30 January to 7 March 2027. Written by Nessah Muthy and directed by Helen Matravers, the production celebrates historic and modern female voices by sending a young class-president candidate back in time to meet Suffragette Emily Davison.

The early 2027 lineup also features Colours, Colours Everywhere, running from 6 February to 13 March. Adapted from the vibrant book by Julia Donaldson and Sharon King-Chai, the production utilizes playful puppetry and fully integrated British Sign Language. These new titles join previously announced festive centerpiece productions, including a contemporary, beatbox-infused musical remix of Peter Pan, and Antarctica, a whimsical snowy adventure created alongside Little Bulb and the Bristol Old Vic.

As the UK's first dedicated children's theatre venue, Polka continues to prioritize accessibility amidst rising living costs, offering extensive creative learning workshops alongside its flagship performances. Artistic Director Helen Matravers emphasized that providing barrier-free access to transformative arts education remains essential to the venue's core community mission. Tickets for the complete season, including the return of the Big Dreams Early Years Theatre Festival in September, are officially on sale now via the theatre's website.
