Following record-breaking, sold-out seasons in London and across the UK, the multi-award-winning revival of Fiddler on the Roof has today announced its fresh star cast for its highly anticipated Australian premiere. The acclaimed production is set to tour major venues in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.

Leading the high-octane company as Tevye is Australian and West End star Troy Sussman, whose illustrious 40-year career includes Back to the Future and Sunset Boulevard. Joining him is beloved Australian icon Sigrid Thornton as Yente, marking her first starring role in a musical in over a decade. Alexis Fishman steps into the role of Golde, alongside rising stars Freya Boltman as Tzeitel, Ellen Ebbs as Hodel, and Caity Plummer as Chava, with internationally acclaimed violinist Ben Adler as The Fiddler.

Originally produced at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2024 before transferring to the Barbican Theatre—where it became the best-selling musical of all time—this revival is the most nominated in the history of the Olivier Awards, winning three accolades including Best Musical Revival. The production marks Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s return to Australia following its triumphant tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Director Jordan Fein, whose contemporary lens has been widely praised for its emotional depth and inventive staging, expressed his enthusiasm for the new company: “The talent we saw in the Australian auditions was world-class. I am overjoyed to have assembled this brilliant company to continue the legacy of this beloved story.”

The creative team reunites designer Tom Scutt and choreographer Julia Cheng, the duo behind the celebrated West End and Broadway production of Cabaret. Set in 1905 in the village of Anatevka, the musical explores family, community, and changing traditions through a legendary score that features classics like "If I Were A Rich Man" and "Sunrise, Sunset."

The Australian tour kicks off at the Theatre Royal Sydney on July 31, 2026, before heading to Brisbane's QPAC in October, followed by Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre, with Perth dates to follow.
