In a major casting announcement, McFly star Harry Judd is set to lead the highly anticipated London transfer of Disney’s High School Musical. Produced by Hope Mill Theatre and Chris Harper Productions, this first UK non-replica production of the global phenomenon will roar into the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre from 12 October 2026, running through the festive season until 3 January 2027.
Judd takes on the role of Coach Bolton, succeeding Jason Donovan, who will lead the production during its initial summer run at The Lowry in Salford. The London staging coincides with the 20th anniversary of the iconic film that inspired a generation. Judd joins a first-class company, including Tobias Turley as Troy, Leonor Correia as Gabriella, and Disney veteran KayCee Stroh, who reprises her connection to the franchise as Ms Darbus.
The production, co-directed by Hope Mill founders Joseph Houston and William Whelton, features all the beloved anthems that defined an era, including "Breaking Free," "We’re All In This Together," and "Get’cha Head in the Game."
For Judd, the role is as much about family as it is about his decorated 23-year career with McFly. "I’m absolutely thrilled," Judd shared. "It’s such an iconic film that meant so much to me growing up, and now getting to share that same excitement with my own family makes this even more special. As a dad, it’s been amazing to revisit this story through my children’s eyes and see just how timeless it really is."
The drummer and Strictly Come Dancing champion added that he is "incredibly proud" to lead the cast at Wembley Park, stating he "can't wait to 'Get My Head in the Game' and bring this story to life on stage."
Priority booking opens on 20 May, with general ticket sales commencing on 22 May 2026. Given the immense popularity of the franchise and the star power of the cast, fans are encouraged to sign up at HighSchoolMusicalOnStage.com to ensure they don't miss out on this nostalgic theatrical event.
