Trafalgar Theatre has released a series of striking first-look images featuring Catherine Tate in the West End premiere of the Olivier Award-winning comedy Oh, Mary!. The production, which is currently captivating audiences in London, showcases Tate in the titular role of a wildly reimagined Mary Todd Lincoln.

Written by Tony Award-winner Cole Escola and directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Pinkleton, this 80-minute one-act play is a dark comedy that delves into the miserable, suffocated life of Mrs. Lincoln in the weeks preceding her husband’s assassination. The narrative explores themes of unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires, all viewed through a distinctly absurd and irreverent lens.

Oh, Mary! arrives in London following a historic run that saw it declared "one of the best comedies in years" by The New York Times. The production has become a juggernaut of the awards circuit, recently securing the 2026 Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. This follows a triumphant sweep in the United States, where it earned Tony Awards for Best Direction and Best Leading Actor, several Drama League Awards, and was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Catherine Tate is joined on stage by a talented ensemble that brings this chaotic historical satire to life. The cast includes Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher, Scott Karim as Mary’s Husband, and Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, with Oliver Stockley appearing as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant.

The creative team behind the production features scenic design by dots, costumes by Holly Pierson, and a celebrated score by Daniel Kluger. Produced in the West End by Wessex Grove, the play has been praised for its unique ability to combine high-concept historical drama with "idiotic" slapstick comedy.

Oh, Mary! is currently booking at the Trafalgar Theatre for a limited season until Saturday, 18 July 2026. Given the critical acclaim and the star power of Tate, theatre-goers are encouraged to secure tickets early for what is undoubtedly the most talked-about comedy in the capital.
