The Royal Opera’s prestigious Jette Parker Artists Programme (JPA) is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary during the 2026/27 season, marking a quarter-century of unearthing the most luminous talents in the world of opera and ballet. Since its inception in 2001, the program has served as a critical global pipeline, launching the careers of over 150 exceptional artists.

The program’s impact is visible on every major international stage. Alumni include global sensations such as Aigul Akhmetshina, Edgaras Montvidas, and Ekaterina Gubanova. Beyond singers, the JPA has fortified the entire theatrical ecosystem by integrating roles for conductors, directors, and répétiteurs. This holistic approach ensures that the "opera of the future" is supported by world-class talent both on and off the stage.

"It has been one of the great joys of my life to support this programme," says Jette Parker. "To witness their journeys and know the program played a part in shaping their futures is a constant source of inspiration."

Under the guidance of Artistic Director David Gowland and Head of JPA Elaine Kidd, the search for talent has reached every corner of the globe—from Armenia to New Zealand. The mission remains focused on finding "raw natural talent" that may have lacked access to traditional Western European training and providing them the rigorous platform needed to flourish.

The 25th-anniversary cohort includes a dynamic group of nine singers and a specialized music staff, including conductor/répétiteur Avishka Edirisinghe. To celebrate this milestone, the Royal Opera House will host a season-long series of events:

Linbury Theatre Festival: A two-day retrospective highlighting the dynamic range of chamber operas and recitals performed over the last 25 years.

Crush Room Recitals: A series of intimate, personal 45-minute lunchtime performances curated by the artists.

Summer Performance: A grand anniversary edition of the annual showcase featuring the full cohort on the Main Stage.

As the program looks toward the next 25 years, it remains committed to diversification and innovation, ensuring that opera remains both excellent and relevant in an ever-shifting cultural landscape. For more information, visit rbo.org.uk.
