In a bold reimagining of a 20th-century masterpiece, The Old Vic has announced a major revival of David Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, Glengarry Glen Ross. For the first time in the play's history, the production will feature an all-female cast, offering a fresh perspective on a story traditionally defined by toxic masculinity and ruthless corporate warfare.

Directed by Tony Award winner Patrick Marber (Leopoldstadt), the production will run from 04 June to 18 July 2026. Marber returns to the material following his highly successful 2025 Broadway revival, which was granted a two-week extension due to overwhelming demand.

"It’s a heck of a play to work on; hilarious, profound, obscene—a thrilling story with twists that make an audience gasp," Marber remarked. "It was written in the 1980s but it seems to me to be about our world right now. I'm very excited to be doing it again, this time as a premiere with an all-female cast."

Set in a fly-by-night real estate office in Chicago, the play depicts a brutal sales competition where the stakes are absolute: first prize is a Cadillac, second is a set of steak knives, and third and fourth mean termination. As four agents cheat, fight, and steal to survive, the play explores the "dog-eat-dog" culture of free-market capitalism.

Artistic Director Matthew Warchus noted that this production will take place entirely In The Round, an intimate configuration designed to surround the stage. Warchus believes the shift to an all-female ensemble will reveal "new resonances" in Mamet's razor-sharp dialogue, heightening the immediacy of the play's cut-throat themes.

While the cast is still to be announced, anticipation is high for what is set to be the centerpiece of Warchus’ final season.
