London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket is preparing for a familiar, furry visitor this summer as the Olivier Award-nominated stage production of The Tiger Who Came to Tea announces its return. Back by popular demand, the beloved musical play will celebrate its twelfth West End season, running from 22 June to 5 September 2026. Tickets below.

Based on the late Judith Kerr OBE’s classic 1968 picture book—which has sold over five million copies worldwide—the stage adaptation has become a global phenomenon since its premiere in 2008. Adapted and directed by David Wood OBE, often hailed as "the national children’s dramatist," the production has toured everywhere from the Sydney Opera House to sold-out venues in Beijing, Dubai, and Singapore.

This summer marks the show’s sixth consecutive residency at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Tickets for the 55-minute musical adventure go on sale today, with casting announcements expected to follow shortly.

The story remains as enchanting as ever: the doorbell rings just as Sophie and her Mummy sit down for tea, only for them to find a big, furry, stripy tiger at the door. Designed as the perfect introduction to live theatre for children aged three and above, the production brings the story to life with sing-a-long songs, interactive fun, and magical illusions designed by former President of the Magic Circle, Scott Penrose.

The production serves as a tribute to the late Judith Kerr, who escaped Nazi Germany as a child to become one of Britain's most cherished authors. Her legacy lives on through David Wood’s faithful direction and a high-caliber creative team including designer Susie Caulcutt and musical director Mike Cotton.

Produced by Nicoll Entertainment, known for family hits like Dinosaur World Live, the show continues to delight new generations. With performances scheduled throughout the week (excluding Thursdays) and tickets starting from £10, it remains one of the West End's most accessible and enduring summer treats.
