London’s comedy landscape is about to get a lot more spontaneous. Hoopla, the UK’s first dedicated improv theatre and largest training school, has officially launched its 20th Anniversary Improv Festival. Running from Friday 10th April to Thursday 21st May 2026, this landmark celebration marks two decades of transforming a pub-room practice session into a defining pillar of British comedy.

A Homecoming for Comedy Icons

The festival serves as a "who’s who" of the improv world, bringing back stars who trod the Hoopla boards early in their careers. The lineup features a rare opportunity to see stadium-level talent in the intimate, 80-seat London Bridge venue.

Early confirmed acts include the creators and stars of the Olivier Award-winning Showstopper! The Improvised Musical—Dylan Emery, Adam Meggido, Ruth Bratt, Andrew Pugsley, and Phil Pellew. Joining them are improv heavyweights such as Abandoman (Rob Broderick), MC Hammersmith (Will Naameh), and members of the legendary Comedy Store Players.

Celebrating Community and Diversity

True to Hoopla’s inclusive ethos, the programme highlights the "improv revolution" through specialized showcases. Highlights include Comedi-Asians, celebrating Asian and South East Asian talent, and Do The Right Scene, which spotlights Black and Global Majority improvisers.

Since its founding in 2006, Hoopla has evolved into a powerhouse launchpad for talent seen on Mock the Week and the West End. "It’s an honour to be a part of the amazing improv community," says Director Steve Roe. "I'm really excited to see groups that usually perform to massive audiences back in our cosy 80-seater venue."
