This February, one of London’s most iconic landmarks is set to vanish into the cosmos. From February 17 to 21, 2026, St Martin-in-the-Fields will host Space, a breathtaking immersive light and sound installation created by the renowned artistic collective Luxmuralis.

A Journey Through the Cosmos

Following sell-out success across the UK, Space transforms the historic architecture of St Martin’s into a celestial canvas. The experience begins in the outdoor courtyard, where visitors can enjoy a drink at the Café & Bar before entering a multi-sensory odyssey. Inside, the church’s interior is "painted with light," using state-of-the-art projections to depict the Big Bang, the first rocket launches, and the birth of the universe, all set to a bespoke atmospheric soundscape.

The journey concludes with a poignant 15-minute seated sequence, allowing visitors to look back at planet Earth from the depths of a star-filled galaxy.

Dance Among the Stars

For those looking for a truly unique night out, Wednesday, February 18, features a one-night-only Silent Disco. Held within the shifting light of a "spellbinding constellation," the Crypt will come alive as DJs spin tracks across three channels. It is a rare opportunity to dance while wrapped in orbiting stars and shifting light, blending contemporary club culture with centuries-old history.

The Stained Glass of the 21st Century

The installation is the work of sculptor and Luxmuralis Artistic Director Peter Walker, whose projections have been described as the "stained-glass windows of our time." Walker’s vision is to bridge the gap between the ancient and the contemporary, using light to tell stories in the same way traditional glass once did for previous generations.
