Following a string of sold-out London runs and critical acclaim, the high-octane musical Cable Street is set to make its international premiere this spring. The production will lead the prestigious 2026 Brits Off Broadway season at New York City’s 59E59 Theaters, running from Sunday, 26th April to Sunday, 24th May 2026.

The musical breathes life into a defining chapter of British history: the 1936 Battle of Cable Street. It tells the gripping true story of a community that refused to be divided, as 100,000 Jewish residents, Irish dockworkers, trade unionists, and local families united to blockade the rise of Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists. Though set nearly a century ago, the show’s themes of identity, solidarity, and resistance against hatred resonate powerfully with contemporary global audiences.

New York theatergoers will see the celebrated London cast reprising their roles. Debbie Chazen, an Olivier Award nominee, returns as Kathleen, alongside Ethan Pascal Peters as Moishe and Max Alexander Taylor as Sean. The ensemble is bolstered by original cast members including Aoife Mac Namara, Jez Unwin, and Lizzy Rose Esin Kelly, with Olivier Award nominee Preeya Kalidas joining as Edie and Elizabeth.

Behind the scenes, the award-winning creative team remains at the helm. The production features a contemporary score by composer Tim Gilvin and a book by Alex Kanefsky, under the direction of Adam Lenson. Musical supervision is provided by Tamara Saringer.

Producer Dylan Schlosberg of 10 to 4 Productions expressed his excitement for the transfer, noting, “Though rooted in 1930s London, its themes feel unmistakably current, and I’m confident New York audiences will feel that.”

With the Guardian describing it as a “dazzling musical portrait” and Broadway World hailing it as “thrilling,” Cable Street arrives in Manhattan as one of the most anticipated British imports of the year.
