London Theatre Company has unveiled the first-look production photos for the major new staging of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s beloved musical, Into The Woods. The eagerly anticipated show, directed by Jordan Fein with striking set and costume design by Tom Scutt, is currently in previews at the Bridge Theatre ahead of its official opening night this Thursday, December 11.
This production marks the first major London staging of the musical since 2016. The story brilliantly weaves together four classic Grimms' fairy-tales, following characters like the Baker, the Baker’s Wife, the Witch, Jack, Little Red Ridinghood, Cinderella, and Rapunzel as they venture into the woods to pursue their wishes, discovering what truly happens "beyond happy ever after."
The cast features a stellar line-up of Olivier Award winners and nominees. Jamie Parker (Olivier Award for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) stars as the Baker, alongside Olivier winner Katie Brayben (Tammy Faye) as the Baker’s Wife, and Olivier nominee Kate Fleetwood (London Road) as the formidable Witch.
The company also includes Chumisa Dornford-May (Olivier nominee for The Great Comet) as Cinderella, Oliver Savile as Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf, Gracie McGonigal as Little Red Ridinghood, and Jo Foster as Jack. Michael Gould takes on the dual role of the Narrator/Mysterious Man.
Sondheim and Lapine’s second collaboration, which originally won Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Book on its 1986 Broadway debut, is scheduled to run at the Bridge Theatre until Saturday, May 30, 2026. The creative team includes Mark Aspinall (Musical Supervisor/Director), Adam Fisher (Sound Designer), and Aideen Malone (Lighting Designer).
The production, presented by London Theatre Company in association with Jamie Wilson Productions, invites audiences to reflect on why they would go into the woods—whether to sell a cow, lift a spell, or find the king.
