Greenwich Theatre has announced a bold Spring/Summer 2026 season, reinforcing its position as a powerhouse producing theatre and a key supporter of emerging artists in London. The in-house season features high-profile premieres, a new Shakespeare tradition, and family-friendly favourites.
The season launches with the UK premiere of Neil LaBute’s America The Beautiful (March 30th – April 4th). This collection of savage, satirical short plays, compiled from the LaBute New Theater Festival in the US, promises a divisive and challenging look at modern life and relationships from one of theatre’s most potent contemporary voices.
For summer, the theatre initiates a new tradition for south east London with a sparkling, musical take on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet (June 26th – August 2nd). Artistic Director James Haddrell promises a production filled with "heartbreak, love and theatrical magic," exploring the tragedy brought about by intolerance and distrust. The family summer show is a new version of Anthony Spargo's The Little Mermaid (August 7th – 23rd), transporting audiences beneath the waves for a colourful and joyful retelling from the award-winning panto writer.
Beyond the main stage, Greenwich Theatre remains a uniquely supportive home for emerging talent. The venue is demonstrating its capacity for growth by welcoming ProForca Theatre’s co-produced revival of their sell-out hit Flashbang! (January 27th – 31st) to the main stage ahead of a national tour. The studio space will continue to host monthly scratch nights, new music, and comedy, with the Greenwich Theatre Artist Network providing year-round support and resources for early-career professionals.
The theatre's success in increasing in-house production despite economic challenges is being celebrated with a string of fundraising events featuring big names, including Jo Brand, Arthur Smith, and Sir Derek Jacobi, all aiming to ensure the future of theatre in south east London. The 2026 season culminates with the eagerly anticipated Greenwich Theatre Pantomime running from November 2026 to January 2027.
