The electrifying stage transfer of Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein The Musical opens tonight, December 3rd, at the Liverpool Playhouse for a limited Christmas run. This acclaimed production, a celebrated highlight of Hope Mill Theatre’s 10th Anniversary year, brings the legendary comedy film to life with a stellar cast led by soap star Daniel Brocklebank.
Brocklebank takes on the role of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen"), the skeptical grandson of the infamous Victor. After inheriting his family's Transylvanian estate, Frederick is reluctantly drawn into the mad science of his ancestors, culminating in the creation of a creature that rivals his grandfather’s work. The hilarity that ensues is classic Mel Brooks.
The cast features a fantastic ensemble, including Jessica Martin as the memorable Frau Blücher, Pete Gallagher as The Monster, Curtis Patrick as the hunchbacked Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), Julie Yammanee as the leggy lab assistant Inga, and Amelia Adams as Elizabeth Benning.
This production, adapted by Mel Brooks from his iconic 1974 film, features a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with music and lyrics by Brooks himself. It is helmed by the creative team of Nick Winston (Direction and Choreography) and Francesca Warren (Musical Direction and Co-Musical Supervision).
The transfer is a significant achievement for Hope Mill Theatre, which has earned a national and international reputation for its high-quality in-house musical productions since opening in 2015.
Young Frankenstein The Musical promises a raucous and fun-filled festive treat for audiences throughout its Liverpool run. Production images showcasing the highly anticipated transfer are now available for media use.
