Kali Theatre, in association with Soho Theatre, is set to premiere Gayathiri Kamalakanthan's debut play, Period Parrrty, from October 23 to November 22, 2025. This production brings a fresh and humorous take on navigating first love, queer identity, and Tamil heritage. The play was previously nominated for the Tony Craze Award, solidifying Kamalakanthan's reputation as an emerging voice in British theatre.

The story follows 14-year-old Krish, who identifies as non-binary and faces a challenge when their mother insists on a traditional Tamil period party to celebrate the onset of puberty. Unwilling to conform, Krish and their best friend Brenevee hatch a plan to reinvent the celebration as a "degendered party of their dreams."

The cast features Elizabeth Green (EastEnders) as Krish, Rani Moorthy (Curry Tales) as Brintha, and Tanvi Virmani (Gigi & Dar) as Brenavee. The production is directed by Gitika Buttoo, a queer British South Asian director and recent staff director at the National Theatre. The creative team includes movement director Sundeep Saini, designer Katie Scott, and composer Niroshini Thambar, among others.

As a company dedicated to promoting work by women and non-binary writers of South Asian descent, Kali Theatre has spent over 30 years nurturing talent and enriching the UK's theatre landscape with diverse stories. Period Parrrty continues this mission, offering a vibrant and thought-provoking look at identity, tradition, and the courage to be oneself.
