Wessex Grove and Gavin Kalin Productions have announced the 50th Anniversary West End revival of David Hare's rebel play, "Teeth 'n' Smiles." The production will star Rebecca Lucy Taylor, better known as the musician Self Esteem, in her West End play debut. Directed by Daniel Raggett, the play is scheduled for a limited 12-week run at the Duke of York's Theatre starting in March 2026.

Tickets for the show will go on sale in October 2025, with audiences able to sign up for priority access at the play's official website.

"I’m deeply honoured to be bringing 'Teeth 'n' Smiles' back for its 50th anniversary," Taylor said. "I love to challenge myself in new forms and I can’t wait to slap you round the face with Maggie."

The play tells the story of Maggie Frisby, once a star of the 60s counterculture scene, now a disillusioned and broke musician. Fueled by alcohol and rage, Maggie battles to keep her voice and rebellious spirit alive as her band falls apart. The production will feature music by Nick Bicât and lyrics by Tony Bicât, with new additional music and lyrics by Taylor herself.

David Hare shared his excitement about the revival, noting, "I can’t think of anything more exciting than watching Rebecca Lucy Taylor and Dan Raggett strip the varnish off my old play. It’s a perfect moment to see if a new generation responds to that 70s mix of hope, drugs, music, sex and despair.”

"Teeth 'n' Smiles" marks Taylor's return to the stage after her acclaimed run as Sally Bowles in the Olivier Award-winning revival of Cabaret. As a musician, Taylor has earned critical acclaim for her albums, Prioritise Pleasure and A Complicated Woman, along with numerous award nominations.
