After 27 years based at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, Masterclass is beginning a new era. In September 2025, the theatre education charity will relocate to Seven Dials Playhouse, a move that will also see a change to its name and visual identity. The organization will now be known as the Masterclass Theatre Trust.
The new name and refreshed logo, which will replace the Theatre Royal Haymarket crown with "Est. 1998," are designed to honor the charity's heritage while looking toward the future. The relocation promises to provide greater flexibility and new opportunities to connect with emerging theatre artists while maintaining a presence in the West End.
Since its founding in 1998, Masterclass has provided free, year-round training for young theatre professionals through a variety of programs, including masterclasses, creative workshops, and career development opportunities. The charity is also the lead producer of TheatreCraft, the UK's largest free careers event for young people interested in off-stage roles. At its new home, Masterclass will continue to partner with other London venues, including LW Theatres, Park Theatre, and The Other Palace, to deliver its core programs.
Clare Annamalai, the Programme Director, expressed gratitude to the Theatre Royal Haymarket while looking forward to the new partnership. "Seven Dials Playhouse offers us a fresh space in which to continue empowering the next generation of theatre makers," she said. "Masterclass has always fostered an inclusive community... Now we have a home for that community with Seven Dials Playhouse, whose mission aligns with our own."
Amanda Davey, Chief Executive of Seven Dials Playhouse, echoed the sentiment, stating, "Their outstanding work in training and supporting emerging talent is renowned, and we are excited that they will be homed here with us for this, their next chapter." The move marks a significant step for both organizations in their shared mission to support and nurture new talent in the arts.
