The Royal Opera House has announced a last-minute cast change for its upcoming production of The Sicilian Vespers. Tenor SeokJong Baek has withdrawn from all performances due to personal reasons, and his role will be filled by Ukrainian tenor Valentyn Dytiuk.

This engagement marks Dytiuk's highly anticipated Royal Opera debut. The accomplished tenor has recently made several notable role debuts across Europe, including Don Carlo, Arrigo in The Sicilian Vespers, and Florestan in Fidelio for Deutsche Oper Berlin. His recent performances also include Rodolfo in La bohème for National Theatre Prague and Alfredo in La traviata for Teatro Verdi.

In addition to his opera work, Dytiuk has performed Verdi’s Requiem with the National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin and made his Berlin Philharmoniker debut in Honegger’s Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher. A former artist of the Ukrainian National Opera, Dytiuk is a graduate of the Tchaikovsky National Musical Academy in Kiev.

The rest of the cast for the production, which runs from September 19th to October 6th, remains unchanged.
