Underbelly's 7th annual Big Brain Tumour Benefit has successfully raised an incredible £15,203 for The Brain Tumour Charity, the world's leading brain tumor charity. The one-off comedy show, a highlight of Underbelly’s 25th Anniversary program, brought together some of the biggest names in comedy for a sold-out event.
Hosted by Ivo Graham, the evening featured a star-studded lineup of performances from renowned comedians, including Michelle Wolf, Celya AB, Emmanuel Sonubi, and Abandoman, in his only Fringe appearance of 2025. All profits from the event—including ticket income and donations—will go directly to the charity, which is the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumors globally.
The benefit was founded by Underbelly in 2017 following the diagnosis of co-founder Ed Bartlam's son, Alfie, who tragically passed away at the age of seven from a rare form of brain cancer. Bartlam expressed his gratitude, stating, "I’d like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who performed in, and attended... It makes me immensely proud that together we have raised more than £15,000 with donations going to a specific research project to find new treatments for some of the most aggressive forms of paediatric brain tumours."
Bartlam shared that the goal is to raise £1.5 million for this crucial research project through a series of fundraising events. Brain tumors remain the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children and adults under 40, yet research is severely underfunded. The funds raised by the Big Brain Tumour Benefit will contribute to finding new treatments and improving the lives of those affected.
