The New Diorama Theatre has announced its highly anticipated Autumn 2025 season, running from September 23rd to December 13th. The season features two brand-new productions from trailblazing theatre companies, promising a compelling and diverse theatrical experience.
Ecofeminist Rallying Cry and Electro-Folk Musical
First up, from September 23rd to October 25th, is Uprooted by the multi-award-winning Ephemeral Ensemble. Following their critically acclaimed REWIND, Uprooted is described as a tropical-punk, ecofeminist rallying cry. Inspired by the voices of displaced peoples and environmental defenders in Latin America, this production uses fierce physicality, searing visuals, and "bone-stirring music" to explore oppression and resistance, sowing seeds for a wilder, interconnected future.
Then, from November 11th to December 13th, the New Diorama continues its tradition of pioneering new musicals with Precipice by Timelapse. This innovative electro-folk musical plunges into the 400-year fallout of a biomedical catastrophe. Collaboratively written by six creators, including Olivier Award-winner Darren Clark, Precipice traces converging timelines where past mistakes lead to future reckonings, all set against a "thrilling electro-folk score." It's a darkly funny story of crisis, humanity, and hope at the edge of disaster.
A Vision for the Future
Emma Clark, Head of Programme at New Diorama Theatre, emphasized the importance of showcasing these companies: "During an intensely challenging moment for independent ensembles, we are so proud to be presenting the work of Ephemeral Ensemble and Timelapse, two bold and distinctive companies with fiercely passionate visions for what is possible within theatre making and the wider world." Clark added that these "poetic, humane, and wildly theatrical new shows" dive deep into societal systems, pushing towards "hopeful, rewilded futures."
Tickets for both productions are on sale now, with further details available at newdiorama.com.
