Following a triumphant sold-out premiere at Theatre503 in 2023, Alfie Webster's powerful and vulnerable one-man play, lenny., is set to transfer to the Omnibus Theatre. Presented by Grey Castle Productions, this highly anticipated run opens on September 19th, with previews from September 16th, and will play until October 4th, 2025.
Written and performed by Webster and directed by Fringe First Award winner Sarah Stacey, lenny. is a darkly funny and emotionally resonant exploration of identity, masculinity, and the universal need for belonging. Developed through the Royal Court’s Introduction to Playwriting group, it marks a significant debut for Webster as a playwright.
Acclaimed actor and project supporter Aimee Lou Wood expressed her excitement for the transfer, stating, "I’m absolutely thrilled that my dear friend Alfie Webster is taking their special solo-show to the Omnibus Theatre... It’s a beautifully crafted play that examines what it means to find your place in a world as a generation cursed by the worry of being too much or too little, too big or too small, too young or too old." She added, "I can’t wait to watch it, and hope audiences come and feel as deeply connected to it as I do."
The play introduces audiences to lenny., a character dangerously close to the end of his twenties, still waiting for his life to truly begin. Tired of being a witness to the vibrant life of his best friend Carly, lenny. decides to step into the spotlight. However, this new outlook quickly takes a darker turn, probing the complexities of a "delayed" queer coming-of-age and the urgent desire for authenticity.
