The stage is set, the lights are ready — and tickets are flying out the door for We Are Solihull, the much-anticipated variety performance marking the grand reopening of The Core Theatre on Saturday 4 May. This one-night-only celebration, hosted by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Shahin Ashraf MBE, promises an unforgettable evening of community, culture, and entertainment in support of the Mayoral charities: Marie Curie UK, OASIS, and Social Life Opportunities (SoLo).
A true showcase of local talent and spirit, We Are Solihull brings together an eclectic mix of performers, from soaring vocalists and energetic dancers to moving poetry and joyful choirs. Among the stars taking the stage are Ukrainian singer Mariia Zoria, the soulful Amara Latchford, and vintage harmony trio the Boogaloo Babes. Fan favourites Sing Solihull and Pop Voices — the latter currently capturing hearts on Britain’s Got Talent — will also lift the roof with their powerful choral sound.
Adding a touch of sparkle and sass, beloved panto Dame Morgan Brind will compère the evening in full costume, bringing humour and heart as he introduces each act. Audiences can expect surprise appearances, pop-up poetry from Verse & Vows’ Emily Holtom, and an exhilarating finale from cover band 2 Weeks’ Notice.
As her mayoral year draws to a close, Cllr Ashraf reflects on a term marked by community engagement and cultural connection. “We Are Solihull is more than a show — it’s a tribute to the people, places, and passions that make our borough shine,” she said. “Let’s celebrate what unites us, uplift our local talent, and support causes that truly matter.”
Tickets are almost sold out — don’t miss your chance to be part of this special night. To book, click [here]. Donations to the Mayor’s chosen charities can be made via JustGiving, and a grand raffle with fantastic prizes will also raise vital funds.
