The National Theatre has announced that six of National Theatre Live’s biggest productions, filmed from London stages, are releasing to cinemas in Spanish speaking countries with Spanish subtitles, making world class theatre accessible to audiences across the globe.
From October, Present Laughter and Vanya with Andrew Scott, Prima Facie with Jodie Comer, Frankenstein and Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch and Fleabag with Phoebe Waller-Bridge are all confirmed to release to cinemas through National Theatre Live in Spain, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, with plans to expand to other Spanish speaking countries.
National Theatre Live launched in 2009 and has since released 100 titles to venues around the world. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, National Theatre Live regularly screened with Spanish subtitles, and this announcement marks the first programme of shows to release with subtitles since 2020.

For Spanish speaking audiences unable to reach a cinema, Vanya and Frankenstein will also be available to stream with subtitles on National Theatre at Home from 19 September. National Theatre at Home launched in 2020 and has been a pioneer in streaming the best of British theatre for global audiences with over 90 plays released on the platform to subscribers from 171 countries, and new titles added every month.
