This one-hour production aims to introduce British audiences to the rich artistic culture of the Uyghur people from Xinjiang. The protagonist, a talented dancer, showcases her passion and skill through traditional Uyghur dance and music, illustrating her unwavering pursuit of her dreams. Notably, "She Came from Xinjiang" is written, directed, and performed by Mikray Tursun. A renowned musical theatre actress in China, Mikray Tursun has pursued her education further in the UK, where she completed two master's degrees and emerged as an independent producer.
She single-handedly undertook all aspects of the production, from choreography to costume design, and from promotion to overall production. "For me, this is not just an artistic creation but a significant challenge," said Mikray Tursun.
"Through this stage, I hope to introduce more people to the unique arts and culture of the Uyghur people from Xinjiang, while also inspiring those who dream to pursue their aspirations boldly."
