Producers Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals have released exclusive on-stage standing tickets and confirmed Tyrone Huntley will reprise his role as Judas Iscariot for the West End transfer of Jesus Christ Superstar at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Following a record-breaking, sold-out summer run at The London Palladium that concluded on 5 September 2026, the revival transfers to Theatre Royal Drury Lane for a 12-week run from 16 October 2026 to 9 January 2027, ahead of a national UK tour launching in February 2027.
Over 7,000 standing tickets priced at £25 have been released, allowing audiences to view the performance from within the stage layout itself. Huntley will perform the role of Judas for six performances a week, with Matty J appearing as alternate Judas on Thursdays while continuing as Annas for all other scheduled dates.
The production stars Sam Ryder in the role of Jesus, alongside Desmonda Cathabel as Mary Magdalene, David Thaxton as Pontius Pilate, Bob Harms as Caiaphas, Phil King as Peter, Eric Lewis as Simon, and Matthew Harvey as Standby Jesus. Nine guest performers will rotate in the role of King Herod during the London season, including Matt Bomer, Rob Brydon, Reece Shearsmith, Bob The Drag Queen, Michael Ball, Simon Russell Beale, Omid Djalili, and Layton Williams.
Reuniting the creative team from the 2016 Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production, the staging is directed by Tim Sheader with choreography by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie, set design by Tom Scutt, and musical supervision by Tom Deering.
Originally premiering on Broadway in 1971 before setting early West End box office records, the rock opera features iconic music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, including "Gethsemane," "I Don’t Know How to Love Him," and the title track "Superstar." Studio recordings of "Gethsemane" and "What's The Buzz?" performed by Sam Ryder and produced alongside Fraser T. Smith are currently available across streaming platforms.
