After yesterday’s confirmation that the Royal Albert Hall has closed for the duration of the current pandemic, with enormous regret Sergei Polunin’s company, Polunin Ink, has been forced to postpone current plans for the UK premiere of Romeo & Juliet, scheduled to take place there on Tuesday 14 April.

Starring Sergei Polunin and Alina Cojocaru and choreographed by Johan Kobborg, this brand-new staging of the ballet classic garnered great critical acclaim after its world premiere in Italy and would have marked Sergei’s return to the London stage for the first time this year, as well as his debut in the role of Romeo.

There is every intention to reschedule this one-night-only performance at a future date, as and when circumstances allow.

Sergei Polunin commented: “Following the Royal Albert Hall's decision to close due to Covid-19, we have had to postpone our performance of Romeo and Juliet on 14 April. But we're working on a new date and will keep you posted.”
