Studio Rep is the result of a unique collaboration between The New Actors Company, New Wimbledon Theatre and ATG to reinvigorate the artistic identity of Studio at New Wimbledon Theatre.

Robert Laycock, Artistic Director of the project, said:

“The opportunity to lead a Repertory process has been something The New Actors Company has been working towards for about 10 years. To see a talented actor performing different roles in contrasting plays is just about the most exciting thing you can see on stage, and for actors it offers the exciting prospect of performing roles outside of their casting in roles they wouldn’t normally be offered’.

To compliment the exciting in-house repertory seasons, The New Actors Company will be looking to collaborate closely with new and emerging artists. Daniel Souter, Producer of The New Actors Company, said:

"With generous support from New Wimbledon Theatre and ATG, not only will we be able to develop our Studio Rep Seasons, we will begin the creation of a new artistic hub in the south of the capital. Offering very affordable and competitive terms, we will create the environment needed by visiting companies and new voices to take artistic risks and produce exciting work"

Nick Parr, Theatre Director at New Wimbledon Theatre and Studio added:

“Rob, Daniel and The New Actors Company are the perfect match for the Studio. Over the past year or so, we have greatly improved the quality of the shows we present in the space and with this incredible partnership now in place, we can create exciting work for audiences across South London from our base in SW19.”

Breathing Corpses by Laura Wade – Tues 27 Aug – Sat 14 Sep

I hope you have a nice time. I don’t believe in God, really, which is a shame in this type of situation, but –

As Amy, a chambermaid who has the luck of regularly finding the recently deceased, wonders about the life of the dead occupant of a hotel room she was about to clean, we are invited to discover the circumstances that led up to the event in this cleverly constructed drama.
Earning Laura Wade the Most Promising Playwright award from the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards, Breathing Corpses is a gift for both the actors performing it and the audience watching it. This production will be the first professional London revival since its premiere at the Royal Court Theatre in 2005.

Macbeth by William Shakespeare – Tue 17 Sep – Sat 5 Oct
Good sir, why do you start; and seem to fear
Things that do sound so fair?
Shakespeare’s classic tragedy will be the second offering in the season. The New Actors Company is very proud to be producing its first professional production of a play by Shakespeare. The piece needs little introduction except to say there will be no twist or slant in this production; no setting to explain away current affairs or the political climate of this time or any.

Dresden by Justin Fleming ***European Premiere*** - Tue 22 Oct – Sat 9 Nov
How could I have known that you would come?
In 1838, poverty-stricken and on the run from creditors, Richard Wagner writes his first successful opera, Rienzi, which is performed at the Dresden Opera House in October 1842. In 1907, a 19-year-old Adolf Hitler watches a performance of Rienzi, which becomes a powerful obsession for the young, serious Austrian. When Adolf’s fleeting attempts at opera fail dismally, he embarks on his next adventure – to “save the German people” through political action.
How do two men derive inspiration from the same source – one, which leads to an extraordinary act of creation - the other, a murderous act of destruction?

The Night Before Christmas by Anthony Neilson – Fri 13 – Tue 24 Dec
He’s an employee of an International Gift Distribution Agency.
It is the night before Christmas, and while children across the country dream hopefully of a fat man visiting them with presents, and parents lie awake completing re-mortgaging the house, a particularly festive intruder is discovered breaking into a lonely warehouse.
The clock starts ticking for this elf-like individual, as he tries to convince his captors of his Yuletide credentials, but is he all that he says he is? As snow falls gently over the city, and the wind carries sounds of festive cheer, Gary and Simon work to discover the truth. Is their captive truly a Seasonal pixie, a narcotic junkie or maybe both…
