Pack a picnic and prosecco and enjoy free culture on your doorstep. On Tuesday 9 July, The Royal Opera’s beautiful production of Mozart’s great comedy The Marriage of Figaro is broadcast live from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden to sites all over the UK from Aberdeen to the Isle of Wight.

The Marriage of Figaro, Mozart’s greatest comedy, features a stunning score that includes ingenious ensembles, ravishing duets and emotionally potent arias. David McVicar’s beautiful production brings out both the comedy and the tenderness of this wonderful opera. The role of Figaro will be sung by Olivier Award-winning baritone Christian Gerhaher and his fiancée Susanna by soprano Joélle Harvey. The seductive Count Almaviva is sung by baritone Simon Keenlyside and German soprano Julia Kleiter makes her Royal Opera debut as his long-suffering wife Countess Almaviva. Acclaimed conductor John Eliot Gardiner returns to the Royal Opera House to conduct.
