‘Last Night I Dreamt I was in Little Rimming-On-Sea again…’

Enter the jaded and threadbare world of Binkie and Maud when The Martini Encounter launch themselves into The Vaults Festival, London from 13 – 17 February.

The Carol Vorderman Playhouse in Little Rimming -on Sea has seen better days. Which can also be said of former variety entertainers Binkie, Maud and Colin, who re-form for one night only a decade since the disastrous performance which ended their ‘careers’.

Never refined but always eccentric, this naughty and flamboyant duo celebrate their former ‘careers’ in what could very loosely be described as ‘showbiz’. In cabaret format, the trio take us hilariously from their former glory days as an act on the crest of a light entertainment ripple, to their rehab period and their eventual descent into show business obscurity. Two ukuleles, one organ, sublime vocal harmonies, dubious choreography and gin
Basking in their glorious if deluded cocktail of mischievous repartee and banging toons, we follow a tale which takes us from Basingstoke to Basildon and Crawley to Crewe by way of Talking Heads, Alanis Morrisette, Queen and Blur via Beyonce and Bonnie Tyler.

Accompanied by their ukuleles, they are joined by failed stage magician, Colin, tinkling on his organ. Binkie, Maud and Colin did a season at Her Majesty’s (pleasure) and met at the rehabilitation unit where they were taught to play the ukulele in preparation for release back into society.
Now, they have dusted off their dubious theatrical credentials and have recently appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe, Glastonbury and Latitude Festivals, Bloomsbury and Leicester Square Theatres, Pleasance London, Brighton Dome and the Battersea Barge.

One Night in Little Rimming contains adult language and runs 60 mins with no interval.
