Production images are today released for a new adaptation of Henry V presented by Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory at Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio where it runs until Saturday 21 July with opening night for press on Thursday 28 June. The production which stars Ben Hall and is directed by Elizabeth Freestone, launches Artistic Director Jonathan Church’s 2018 Summer Season of five plays at Theatre Royal Bath.

Shakespeare’s play is a thrilling examination of the nature of power, the burden of leadership and the myth of heroism. Ben Hall (The Durrells, Coriolanus) stars in the title role and is joined by Rosie Armstrong, Alice Barclay, Melody Brown, Alan Coveney, Chris Donnelly, Luke Grant, Heledd Gwynn, Joanne Howarth, David Osmond, Zachary Powell, Amy Rockson and Corey Montague-Sholay.



Ben Hall is best known for his role as Donald in BBC’s The Durrells. Theatre credits include Coriolanus and Salomé for the RSC and Twelfth Night (Sheffield / ETT).

Elizabeth Freestone has worked extensively with the RSC for whom her credits include The Comedy of Errors and The Rape of Lucrece. Other theatre credits include Romeo and Juliet for Shakespeare’s Globe and The Duchess of Malfi, Dr Faustus and The School for Scandal at Greenwich Theatre.

Henry V opens Jonathan Church’s new Summer Season as Artistic Director at Theatre Royal Bath. The programme also includes the West End transfer of Jonathan Church’s production of Oscar Wilde’s witty drama An Ideal Husband (18 July – 4 August), the UK Premiere of Joanna Murray-Smith’s thriller Switzerland (1 August – 1 September), the 50th anniversary production of Arthur Miller’s The Price (9 – 25 August), a 10th anniversary production of Yasmina Reza’s God of Carnage directed by Lindsay Posner (29 August – 15 September), and Terence Rattigan’s compelling drama In Praise of Love directed by Jonathan Church (3 October – 2 November).
