New York City. The late 1950s.
Two broken souls reach out to each other in an attempt to stick themselves back together again.

Two For The Seesaw (check ticket availability) will mark Buckland Theatre Company’s first West End production, following previous sold-out shows at the Park Theatre. Directed by Gary Condes, William Gibson’s play will open at Trafalgar Studios on 12 July for a strictly limited run until 4 August.

Charles Dorfman will star as Jerry, the brooding Nebraska lawyer who has relocated to New York City to escape an unhappy marriage, opposite Elsie Bennet as beatnik dancer from the Bronx, Gittel, whose life is drifting after a number of failed relationships in William Gibson’s timeless comedy drama.

Despite their very different backgrounds and personalities, this unlikely couple embark on a bittersweet and tempestuous love affair which forces them to confront, with heartfelt honesty, the very nature of who they are and want they want from love and life.

Two For The Seesaw played more than 750 performances when it opened on Broadway 1962, starring Henry Fonda and Anne Bancroft, who made her New York stage debut in the role. The play was later adapted into a Hollywood film starring Shirley McClain and Robert Mitchum.

Charles Dorfman will play Jerry. Charles studied Theatre at Trinity College Dublin and the Beverly Hills Playhouse in Los Angeles. Recent theatre includes The Ugly One, LUV, Some Girl(s) (all Park Theatre) and Miss Julie (Etcetera Theatre) for Buckland Theatre Company. Other stage work includes Taking Steps, Dangerous Corner, and Wuthering Heights (Manor Pavilion Sidmouth). Film credits include Myrtle, The Show and Present.

Elsie Bennet will play Gittel. Previous theatre credits include Luv (Park Theatre) for Buckland Theatre Company, Progress (Red Rose Theatre) and Pirates of Penzance (Tabard Theatre). Elsie has also had television roles in The Last Czars (Netflix), Birds of a Feather (BBC One) and Little Crackers (Sky 1) as well as the films Why Hide and Passing By.
