On Monday 20 November, The National Youth Theatre (NYT) hosted fundraising gala ‘Chic to Cheek’ at Café de Paris, attended by current NYT performers, past alumni and VIP guests. The event raised over £100,000 which will continue to support The National Youth Theatre’s ongoing projects.
Guests included Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Richard Jones, Daisy Lewis, Ashley Jensen, Matt Smith, Ben Lloyd Hughes, Paul Ready, Sope Dirisu, Ed Chamberlin, Lucy Verasamy, Mathew Horne, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Nick Mason, Annette Mason, Bruce Dickinson, Paddy Dickinson, Prassana Puwanarajah, Ed Vaizey, Lord Thomas Galbraith 2nd Baron Strathclyde, George Lamb, Tom Allen, Paula Wilcox, Dawn Airey, Denise Welch, Kate Robins, Haydn Gwynne, Bruno Wang, David Pearl, Andy Nyman, Caryn Mandabach, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Victoria Broom, Janet Ellis, Hannah Morrish and Zoe Rocha.
Charlie Ross hosted an auction of very special prizes including lunch at Coutts HQ with Matt Smith and Paul Roseby, VIP tickets to the Brit Awards, a holiday in a luxury Tuscan villa, Aston Martin Factory tour and helicopter ride, lunch with Harry Potter star Oliver Phelps, Conor Collins commissioned artwork, cocktails at the diamond vaults of Hatton Garden and a limited edition Omega watch signed by James Bond producers.
The event was hosted by Krishnan Guru-Murthy with music from Sophie Ellis-Bextor, comedy from Tom Allen, a one-off performance from the creators of Showstopper! The Improvised Musical plus a performance from current members of The National Youth Theatre.
The evening was made possible thanks to the support of Café de Paris where VIP attendees enjoyed a champagne Bollinger reception followed by dinner of rump of lamp with rosemary jus, roasted squash hot salad, goats cheese tart with caramelised onion and fresh sage plus a selection of deserts, accompanied by Majestic Loves wine.
