From 22rd-25th August, Opera Kipling (OffFest Finalists 2023 and London Pub Theatre Awards Semi-Finalists 2023) will present a fifties-themed version of Humperdinck’s Opera, Hansel & Gretel, at Upstairs at the Gatehouse, Highgate Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck is a delicious operatic treat - set to a sumptuously rich score, sprinkled with comedy, adventure, and more tunes than you can shake a candy cane at, this show follows the classic story by the Brothers Grimm and features all the familiar characters but with a few surprises!
Updated to the 1950s, this show explores the hunger for food and fame, what's good and healthy for us, and what's too good to be true...
Opera Kipling were formed in 2019, by young professionals to bring accessible up-close Opera to audiences across the UK.
- Newly-produced for the Camden Fringe 2024, this high quality, accessible, production of Hansel & Gretel is designed to appeal to opera novices and veterans alike.
- It importantly also gives chances to emerging artists to add important roles to their repertoire.
